The first county sighting of this vagrant species was made by Tristan Reed at Brandon Marsh in August 2001 (F. G. Stokes ed., Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve 2001 Annual Report, 2002). There were two sighting reported in both 2006 and 2007. Further sighting were made in 2009 and of several males in 2012. In 2013 a male was seen near Salford Priors.
