Migrant hawker Aeshna mixta

This migrant species has a south-easterly range in the country and is recorded widely in the county. It definitely breeds in the county and exuvia have been found at several sites. However, undoubtedly the local population is regularly reinforced by immigration and in good years the species can be widespread and common in September/early October.
