The first county sighting for this rare U.K. migrant
species was made by Mark Whittle on 25th November 2011 near his
home in
Keresley, Coventry. The moribund male
Vagrant Emperor Anax ephippiger
was found lying on the pavement and it did not survive the
morning. The
specimen
is deposited at Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, Coventry.
It was one of several sightings of the species in the British
Isles in
the
autumn of 2011.
